Noosa’s Parking Solution: Remove More Resident Spaces, Add Campervans

Prime Position for backpackers

Noosa’s Revolutionary Camping Strategy: Ban It In The 1980s, Fine It In 2026,

Then Suggest Beach Access 13 : as The Solution

NOOSA HEADS, QLD - In what planning experts are describing as “a full-circle achievement” a proposal has emerged to explore camping at Beach Access 13 - an area where camping was phased out in the late 1980s to protect the dunes, public access and surrounding environment. Residents say it’s the sort of long-term strategic thinking that only takes four decades to complete.

“It’s comforting to know that today’s solution is yesterday’s problem,” said one local while watching another resident circle the block looking for somewhere to park.

The proposal comes after a major crackdown on illegal camping, complete with number-plate recognition technology, patrols and dozens of infringement notices. Political analysts say the messaging has become refreshingly uncomplicated.

Step 1: Stop camping.

Step 2: Fine campers.

Step 3: Suggest they camp where camping was stopped nearly 40 years ago.

The location, better known as Beach Access 13, is currently valued by locals as… a beach access. “First we lost resident car parks to tourists,” one resident explained. “Now apparently we’re considering turning the beach entrance into the caravan park as well. At this rate we’ll be surfing from the roof of a motorhome.” Supporters insist the proposal is only one idea worth exploring. Critics agree.

“So is putting powered sites on Hastings Street,” joked another resident. “At least then campers would be within walking distance of coffee.”

Environmental historians also noted the irony that camping was removed from the area decades ago to better protect the coastline, only for it to return as a modern planning innovation.
